Flash Fiction
Ever since Thomas's parents died in an plane crash, he could no longer go anywhere without fearing that a horrific accident might take place. Although Thomas had to go about living life, everything he did was a risk.Thomas refused to eat any food unless it was tested by another person. He had to wear clothes that covered him from head to toe, in order to stay out of harms way. He then got into a major car crash, Thomas survived with minimal injuries. He sat in the hospital bed all day but with only one thought "I am a surviver". I must keep living, "without fear".
Reflection
...Using both my quotations about fear and courage as inspiration I related back to my theme "fear" through my flash fiction. The significance of my flash fiction is to acknowledge that a traumatic event can trigger a wide variety of phobias, both emotional and physical. This flash fiction demonstrates the harmful effects it can cause to behaviours which is caused by ones own fear. Allowing Thomas's fears to take control of his life only drew him closer to the edge, but Thomas finally broke free from his own imprisonment when he realized that things happen in life that cause us to be scared, to be worried, but that does not mean we must stop living. Everyone experiences the feelings of being scared, lost, and worried. That is not something we can change, but we can change how we decide to react to it before our darkest fear changes us.
