The short story called "Walk Well My Brother" written by Farley Mowat exemplifies courage. Through the excerpt "A curving emptiness more intimidating than anything he had seen in the high skies. The tongue of fear began to flicker again but he resolutely shut his mind to it and stumbled forward."

The image represents Charlie Lavery overcoming his fear as he makes every little step count in hopes of finding help after his air aircraft crashes.
Reflection
...In the quotation from L. Frank Baum "There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid." recounts my other side of my theme, courage. This quotation coincides with the short fiction story "Walk Well My Brother" as it exemplifies the bravery Charlie Lavery undertook when he decided to leave shelter to go in search for help. Charlie did so even though he feared that he may not return, he looked beyond his fear as he struggled to make his first steps in a direction of uncertainty as it is recited through the following quote "The tongue of fear began to flicker again but he resolutely shut his mind to it and stumbled forward." He could have allowed his fear to control his actions, but he did not. In relation to the short story my flash fiction corresponds to courage as well in the following excerpt "Thomas survived with minimal injuries. He sat in the hospital bed all day but with only one thought "I am a surviver. I must keep living, without fear." When challenging events take place in our lives it is difficult to move forward without worrying what may happen if we challenge our fears. Feeding off our nightmares can transform our fears into strength and courage.
